MERCED / CENTRAL VALLEY — NOVEMBER 5, 2026. State Assembly District 27, which includes voters in Merced, Fresno and Madera counties, has an unofficial lead for Democrat Brian Pacheco over Republican Mike Murphy. A tracked district result, last updated Wednesday, November 4 at 2:10 a.m., shows Pacheco at 44,017 votes (63.3%) and Murphy at 25,525 (36.7%). Their difference is 18,492 votes among 69,542 counted at that snapshot.

How each county reported

The The Ballot Book county breakdown allows an important geographical distinction. Merced County’s portion of the district had reported 23,076 votes for Pacheco and 14,563 for Murphy — 37,639 votes counted by November 4 at 2:10 a.m. Fresno County’s portion showed 12,332 for Pacheco and 5,694 for Murphy, a total of 18,026 last updated November 4 at 12:04 a.m. Madera County’s portion showed 8,609 and 5,268 respectively, a total of 13,877 reported November 3 at 11:40 p.m.

Why timestamps differ

The county subtotals reflect different reporting times. Combining them produces the 69,542-vote district snapshot but does not mean all three counties submitted new data at exactly the same moment. This article does not assert that it contains a newer November 5 county count; it uses the latest clearly dated district breakdown confirmed for this report.

What the seat means

The California Assembly makes decisions on state budgets and legislation that affect farms, water management, schools, healthcare and infrastructure across the Central Valley. District 27’s final result will be determined by the completed county canvasses and state certification, not simply by an early-night percentage.

What to check next

Residents should look for new bulletins from the Merced, Fresno and Madera elections offices. Vote-by-mail ballots postmarked on time can still be received through November 10 and accepted if valid.
