MERCED — November 2, 2026. A November 2 Merced City Council agenda item proposed road closures to accommodate the Central California Band Review planned for Saturday, November 14, 2026.
The streets named in the request
The published request identifies Parsons Avenue between Merced and Childs avenues, and East Childs Avenue between Watertown Drive and Parsons Avenue. The proposed closure window is 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Why the park is involved
The Golden Valley High School Band Boosters requested use of Joe Herb Park in conjunction with the band review. The council packet describes city traffic and public-safety staff conditions, including arrangements for residents whose homes are within the planned closure.
Check the final approval
A council agenda recommendation is not proof that a permit or street closure was approved. Drivers and nearby residents should review the adopted action and any new police traffic advisory before November 14.
